ChS (99) 4, on Collective Complaint No. 1/1998
International Commission
of Jurists against Portugal
(Adopted by the Committee
of Ministers on 15 December 1999 at the 692nd meeting of the
Ministers’ Deputies)
The Committee of Ministers,
in its composition restricted to the Representatives of the
Contracting Parties to the European Social Charter or the
Revised European Social Charter ,
Considering Article 7 of
the 1995 Additional Protocol to the Charter providing for
a system of collective complaints;
Considering the Complaint
lodged on 12 October 1998 by the International Commission
of Jurists against Portugal as well as the report submitted
by the European Committee of Social Rights;
Considering that Recommendation
No. R ChS (98) 5, adopted by the Committee of Ministers on
2 July 1998 within the framework of the examination of national
reports covers the same subject and is still in force;
Considering that the said
Recommendation requests that Portugal provide information
in its next report on the measures it has taken to this effect
in application of this Recommendation,
1. takes note of the report
and the conclusions of the European Committee of Social
Rights;
2. recalls that the Government
of Portugal will present, in its next report on the application
of the European Social Charter, the measures taken in application
of the said Recommendation.
